What the future means
for the rest of us.
Answer ten quick questions about AI. Skip for now or come back anytime using “Make your voice known” in the menu; your saved progress stays with you.
We’re taking a camera and one question on the road: what does AI mean for you?
America vs AI follows Andrew DeGood, an AI company founder, and his podcast co-host Liz Short as they travel with filmmaker Alyx Ancira to listen to Americans. We’re interested in the people building AI, the people using it, and the people being asked to live with changes they didn’t choose.
We’ll make time for longer conversations and the people we meet along the way. Work, creativity, education, care, and trust all belong in the story. You can be excited, skeptical, conflicted, or new to all of it.
The documentary is our first focus. We’ll share moments along the way and explore where these conversations might lead beyond the film.
You don’t need to know the technology to have something to say.
We’ll ask about your experience and give you time to answer.
We’re looking beyond tech circles for voices that rarely get asked.
There’s room for excitement, doubt, and changing your mind.
Meet the people asking the questions and running the cameras.

Andrew is the founder and CEO of AskBobAI. He wants to hear where AI helps people, where it falls short, and what it means for their work.

Liz is a leadership and organizational performance consultant. She asks how people handle change at work and how it affects their lives outside it.

Alyx is a filmmaker and content producer. Alyx records the interviews and the moments between stops that tell the story of the trip.
Meet Alyx on LinkedIn ↗Filming begins in Chicago on October 9, with interviews, events, and production time through the 13th. We head south on the 14th, continue up the East Coast, and spend October 24 in Boston before a flexible return toward Chicago on the 25th and 26th.
The route is a working plan. Some days have a clear filming focus; others are open for spontaneous conversations. Venue access and exact times still need confirmation. Indianapolis and Baltimore stops remain optional. October 22 runs from Philadelphia through Pompton Lakes to New York City; interview times in the October 21 corridor remain under review.

You don’t need a title or a following. We want to hear from people whose experience of AI rarely makes the headlines.
Is AI changing your job? What do data centers bring to the places that build and power them?
What does learning mean when answers are instant?
Does AI feel useful, alienating, or both?
If you choose not to use AI, we want to hear why.
Raise your hand for a possible on-camera conversation. This first step takes about 90 seconds.
Thanks for raising your hand. Our small team reviews responses in batches and will contact selected participants directly.
No. We want people with every level of experience, including none at all. Tell us what you’ve experienced or what you’re wondering about.
No. It registers your interest. Our team reviews the mix of stories, locations, and availability before inviting selected participants to schedule.
We’re looking for specific, honest stories and broad coverage across age, work, community, AI exposure, and point of view, not polish, credentials, or follower count.
Yes. Alongside scheduled interviews, we’ll talk with people in cafés, on sidewalks, and in community spaces. Stops outside Chicago, Birmingham, and Boston may change.
We plan to release the documentary on YouTube. We’ll share short updates and city stories while we’re filming and editing.
